I thought the exact same thing.................but then i saw the movie and he is fantastic in it, and deserves all the praise he is getting for it.

I don't believe so. It's also a very good movie. I believe if Heath Ledger was still alive it would still be popular because it's a very good movie. He gave the performance of his life in that movie, even if he hadn't died he should have gotten an Oscar nod for it. Well have you seen the movie... it is the most mindblowing, awesome superfantastico, supercool action flick of the year. it really blows your mind away. Filled with amazing dialouges and just unbelievable action sequences, it truelly is the biggest movie of the year. ledger is actually scary...amazing lines also help. for example The joker holds the heroine from a high storey window and threatens batman. Batman says "Let her go". to which our man the Joker says- "Interesting choice of words..... and lets her go". Also while talking to Harvey Twoface he says " I am like a barking Dog, running behind a carl i wud not know what to do if I catch one" pointing to the chaotic nutjob character that he plays
Oh, i think some people pay attention to it because he died, but no some people didnt even like his performance, and it truly is just an amazing film. Heath Ledger has definately made one of the best performances i have ever seen. He really gets into his character and brings excitement into the movie with some humor well, cruel humor. i think it is, not only because-you're right- everyone wants to see a dead man alive, but it IS a brilliant movie with great effects and it's kind of disturbing as well. The new Batman movie? Who liked it?!?
I just saw the new batman movie last night and 2 tell you the truth, it wasn't that good!!! it was way to long and not as good as every made it out to be.

In a blog I read recently I found out that some people thought that it was fine that they showed the film after his death I do not approve. I do intend to see the movie to see his last performance. Heath Ledger's death should in no way effect the marketing or distribution of his last completed performance. If you tried to establish a precedence that no film could be shown in which all of the actors were no longer alive, you could systematically wipe out all film history.
I also don't understand why it is wrong for other people to watch "The Dark Knight" but it is fine for you to do so.

yes thought he was brilliant, i didnt really fancy seeing it not sure why as i have seen the old ones and liked them, anyway kids persuaded me to take them. i had thought that maybe heath ledgers performance was being hyped up cos he died but no he was brilliant, didnt like christian bale as batman, what happened to clooney or kilmer? thought he looked like michael vaughan (england cricked captain ex ) and with same level of personality - zero. thought it was a bit violent for a 12a, my kids were ok as they are nearly 12 but wouldnt want to take younger or more sensitive ones to see it.
Thought it was really good but there was too much crammed into it and could have made two movies out of it. You just wasted 5 points because people ask this question all the time and I got 2 points for it so thank you very much!

The movie blew me away!!! I knew anything with Christian Bale's name on it is good! But Heath Ledger was definitely the leading star in that movie! I could not believe it! But at the end when I was walking out of the theater I wasn't..I didn't feel happy, because I knew that was the last I'd see of Heath's Joker ....
I thought it was great! My fiance thinks they should stop making Batman movies because he can't see them being able to top this one! I thought Heath Ledger did a great job as the Joker (not Oscar worthy though)...I loved the scene when he was prancing out of the hospital and can't get the detonator to work, lol. Using Batman as his vechile, Nolan, the writer/director also address important questions like what makes a hero and are good guys to blame for creating bad guys? Some people blame the US of A for being arrogant and pushing our selves around the world as an exaple of democracy for causing the rise in terrorism and making the extemeist attacks us. I think that is ridiculous, but that very ideo is explored in this movie as Alfred tells Batman, you attacked organized crime so they are fighting back with the Joker. I don't think fighting evil causes more evil, but it is an interesting question that this film brings up. The idea of what is a hero is also addresed a lot in this film, and half face is a man that is both, first a hero at the district attorney and than a villian after his terrible ordeal.
So in anwser to your question, this movie is fantastic on many levels and I think everyone will enjoy it.

Well Star Wars was movie going at its best at that time. Also there was the originality factor and the special effects, all of which was mind blowing. In comparison, the Dark Knight already had an estabilshed history/storyline but it was by far the best movie I seen since Stars Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws.

He would probably have been a good fit in a Schumacher-directed Batman film (he was supposed to do a third one but was shown the door when "Batman %26amp; Robin" dislodged "Showgirls" as worst film of the 90s) but would be completely useless in Chris Nolan's realistic Batman universe.
