Is the new Batman movie a new telling of the first Batman movie or is it different?

In the first movie, we saw how the Joker came about so whats the deal with the new movie? Thanks! Is the new Batman movie a new telling of the first Batman movie or is it different?
You're referring to the 1989 Batman movie with Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

In 2005 there was Batman Begins with Christian Bale as Batman, and it was a reboot of the Batman movie franchise. That is, it is not a sequel to the Batman movies of the 80s and 90s, but a completely different entity, a fresh start for the Batman movie series. Dark Knight, which just came out, is a sequel to Batman Begins.

So, the deal is ...

The four Batman movies of the 80s and 90s are one film series of Batman's story. The two Batman movies (so far) in the 2000s are a retelling of Batman's story. And each series has its own explanation/origin for the Joker. Hope that helps!
The Dark Knight" is the sequel to "Batman Begins." Both have Christian Bale as BM and Michael Caine as Alfred the Butler, Tim Oldman as (future) Commissioner Gordon, etc.Is the new Batman movie a new telling of the first Batman movie or is it different?
At the end of the firsts movie, you see Gordan give an assignment to Batman. The assignment is Joker. IN the second movie, Joker comes to Gotham to reek havoc and chaos. Batman must stop him.
The new movie is a re-doing of all the other Batman movies.

So this is just another re-telling of the first Joker/Batman encounter. Why? To make a ton of money at the box office. Is the new Batman movie a new telling of the first Batman movie or is it different?
batman has a young boy for a sidekick. he dresses like some one ready for bdsm. he has never had a relationship. he has more toys than a horney french woman. i think he's really michael jackson pretending to be bruce wayne.
