The Dark Knight is a fantastic film, I have not enjoyed a film so much in years if you haven't seen it you must even if you are not a big batman fan.
I feel that Batman is a character that will need constantly updating. He has been through many different incarnations throughout the years and all incarnations have been dependant of the societies current need.
I also think that these reboots are essential, bring the characters core values to new generations.
Long may it continue.

the new batman movies are a million times better than the older ones. these new ones are well writen and actually seem more realistic
the first two movies sucked with tim burton as the director. they were so boring!!!!!! actually, the whole franchise including batman forever and batman and robin sucked too!!! it was too weird and batman is suppose to be dark and it wasn't.Where they right to make a new batman movie?
Although the Burton 2 from the original 4 are good, after the crapiness of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin (DEATH TO JOEL SCHUMACHER) the franchise needed a new direction and the reboot was for the best. It worked as the 2 Nolan films are the best ones
All of the Batman movies were great except for Batman and Robin. That one sucked big time. It just depends on what type of movie you like. The Tim Burton ones are more comic book like, where as the newer ones are more realistic. I enjoy both types. My favorite of all of them is Dark Knight. I have always felt Batman should be more realistic because he does not have a super power. But I also love Tim Burton. In Order favorite to least: Dark Knight, Begins, Batman Forever, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman and Robin.
It's a new series with a new cast and new director, and a more realistic approach, so it made sense to start from the beginning. In fact, showing Batman's origin was something that had never been done before in a movie, so I thought it was a great way to begin a new series of movies.

The best Batman movies were the two first ones with Michael Keaton.
Because Tim Burton is one of the greatest directors and he had achieved a Batman very similar to the comic character.
The today's Batman is much more complicated and if you look good on each of the movies ... Batman is no longer the real main character of the film.
Now more important is the Joker, Harvey or Gordon and then Batman.
Besides ... Bale is not best actor to play the Batman's character.
Michael Keaton was better.
